About

Caitlin has been teaching music for over 16 years and performing for over 23 years. She has taught more than 200 students, from beginners taking their first steps on an instrument to experienced musicians looking to expand their skills, strengthen their technique, explore new styles, or become more confident in their playing. Her musical experience encompasses a wide range of styles, including classical, Celtic, pop, jazz, and improvisation, giving her a versatile approach to both playing and teaching. Caitlin takes a personalized approach to teaching, drawing on her experience across multiple musical styles to support students with different goals, interests, and levels of experience.

Caitlin earned her Bachelor of Music from Middle Tennessee State University. She has studied with highly respected teachers and performers in the field including classical violin with Karen Clarke, Celtic fiddle with Daniel Carwile, and jazz and electric violin with Tracy Silverman. She has also studied classical piano with Paula Bell and jazz piano with Pat Coil.

As a performer, Caitlin has worked and recorded with many different groups, including her own violin and cello duo, Singin’ Strings, and as a member of Roy “Futureman” Wooten's Black Mozart Ensemble.

Teaching Style

My goal as a teacher is to help you learn in a way that connects with you and meets you where you're at, so I customize lesson plans for each of my students. Over the years, I have taught using a variety of methods, and also work with students on special request songs.

I incorporate music theory and ear training in an easy, accessible way, helping students build a strong musical foundation alongside their playing. I offer lessons for beginner through advanced violin and viola students, as well as beginner through intermediate piano students. Students of all ages are welcome!

Curriculum

Included methods I teach from:

- Suzuki Violin and Viola

- The traditional classical method (scales, arpeggios, etudes, and repertoire)

- Faber Piano Adventures

- Bastien Piano Basics
