Laura Llorens
About
Hello Everbody! Bonjour à tous!
I'm Laura Llorens, a singer/songwriter/performer, vocal coach and teacher. I'm originally from a small town in Wisconsin but I have been living in Paris, France for the past 18 years.
I grew up on stage in Wisconsin, performing in local theater groups and in our school music ensembles. My first love was voice and I excelled in vocal performance but soon followed with interest in saxophone, piano and guitar.
As a junior in high school, I had the opportunity to go abroad for a year with the Rotary club and landed in Rennes, France. I spent 11 months learning French and getting to know the culture and people when I was only 16 & 17 years old. After graduating high school, I decided to come back to France and try to make it in the music business in Europe. I started writing my own songs and composing music for myself on guitar and piano. I did my first open mics in Paris in 2003 and then went on to perform in the Parisian Metro for over 10 years - the rest is history!
Years later, I have independently released two EPs (one under my first band's name The Laura E. Family entitled "Rollercoaster" in 2008, then one under my solo name Laura Llorens entitled "The Giving Tree" in 2010) and two LPS ("On the Way" in 2013 and "Digging Deeper" in 2016.)
Most recently, I have been signed on to an independent record label here in Paris called Q-Sounds Recordings and with their support, I released in March 2020 my newest album entitled "Home/Chez Moi" with my new official group Laura Llorens & The Shadows of Love. This is a bilingual album (5 songs in English, 5 in French) as I am celebrating my 50/50 year. Yes, I've officially lived as many years in Wisconsin as I have in Paris.
Since the lockdown, I've made my teaching of the most important things, empowering people from all around the world to take charge of their dreams, learning to sing, play an instrument and speak a new language. Join me in making your dreams come true.

Teaching Style
After performing on THE VOICE FRANCE in 2012, I decided to get serious with how I wanted to teach in the future. I was terribly disappointed by the way I was coached, directed and then forced into performing at a certain vocal level a song which wasn't really in my musical rainbow. I wanted to be sure that this would never happen to anyone. I didn't want to be one of those teachers that pushes to hard to fit into a mold.
I decided to get some proper coaching training at a fabulous, benevolent vocal school here in Paris called "Harmoniques".
I focus all of my teachings around your own authenticity. Though we may have certain vocal characters or esthetics that we hope to attain some day, I really try to bring attention back to you and your own amazing, unique voice. I work through and with a lot of body movements and posture techniques inspired by the Alexander Technique .
One of my biggest reminders though is that when we are working with our voices, there can be a lot of fragility in this identity we have already forged in it. So the magic word, when learning a language, an instrument or starting work on your voice is patience, patience, PATIENCE.
Curriculum
For all of the vocal exercises, I have them recorded ahead of time and send the student an audio file via email prior to our first lesson. The student can then launch them from their own computer and sings them with me on the other side. I, of course, am sitting at my piano and help direct you. We then work on songs and creating your own repetoire.
