Joshua Marcus
About
I studied up through the Master's level in Jazz Studies, first at Eastern Illinois University, and then in New Jersey at William Paterson University. I studied Saxophone specifically, but I have performed extensively on many other instruments, such as Piano, Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Drums, and others. While at these schools, I was exposed to a wide variety of teaching techniques, skills, and freelance jobs that have fortunately made me a diverse and very flexible musician.

Teaching Style
I am very comfortable with improvisation in any style and I provide a strong backdrop of Music Theory knowledge while also maintaining a high level of fun for my students. While making sure each student is continuing to work on musical fundamentals, I also ensure that those things lead further in the direction the student would like to go musically. It works best if you have a goal in mind- perhaps learning to improvise, for instance. From there, my goal is to assist you in making that a reality by providing you with an experienced set of ears and some things you can do to get better and have a great time playing music!
