Teaching Style
"When teaching, a lot of my Music Therapy training comes into play. I start with the Iso-Principle, which states that we must meet everyone where they are or "mood - match". I use this to assess my clients' skill level and start from a place that I think will support their growth, without overwhelming them. I continue with focus and positive reinforcement to help the client realize how capable they are of the difficult task that "learning new things" can be. I do not coddle my clients, and while I may joke, I do always quickly bring the lesson back to focus. While learning new music is always the goal, I also find it very important for my client to leave lessons with a sense of accomplishment. "
Curriculum
"I prefer to start lessons with an assessment session, so that I can understand the skill level of my client. Afterwards, we can match them to materials that fit them best. "
