About
Teaching the piano gives me the opportunity to share skills and lessons I was not aware of, as well as introduce students to different levels of expressions through music. I enjoy the musicality and company music teaching provides. I also enjoy partaking with my students on their musical journey, seeing them grow in skill, artistry, confidence and expression. I make it a priority to develop a self sufficient relationship with their instrument and self. I have been teaching and performing piano in a professional setting for about 10 years, including composing for short films and playing at events and ceremonies. I teach kids and adults with and without any music experience.
Teaching Style
I am a classical pianist, performing professionally for 10yrs in various genres and compositions. I allow students to approach piano on an individual level and try to allow the student to connect with the instrument and with freedom to explore and make mistakes. The goal is to build an encouraging and fun learning environment for skill, musicality and a well rounded knowledge about music and piano
Curriculum
My method is based on relationship to the student/guardian of the student. As a teacher, I am the subject personified. It is important to me to teach in a relative way. In addition to that, I allow the student to express themselves beyond the lesson goal of the day. My lessons are not strictly based on my lesson plan, but are flexible for students to try new/experimental exercises/pieces they have learnt through the lesson(s).
Credentials & Affiliations
I studied at California State University and West Kentucky Community and Technical College while playing the piano in a local orchestra and jazz band. I have also been involved in wedding music for receptions and ceremonies, and in church/sacred music for about 7 years.
