Guthrie Burnett-Tison

Hello there folks! I am Guthrie and I come from Washington state. I studied music at Concordia University, where I specialized in music composition. I studied classical flute, but I also play the Irish wooden flute and the Irish tin whistle. Folk music is my biggest passion, particularly Celtic, Quebecois, American Old Time and Scandinavian folk music.

I am a firm believer in students leading the teacher in how they prefer to learn: nobody learns the same way! I always begin with a conversation about goals and methodology before jumping into the nitty-gritty. But above all, learning something new is always a challenge and requires a lot of patience. I take the position that anyone can learn music, and that starts with a teacher who carefully follows their students' pace. My only goal is to help you reach yours - how we get there is ultimately unique to every student.
