About

I have been teaching music for 20 years now and currently teach at an online blended school.  I was raised in the Marching percussion world playing in two different drum corps and teaching the Madison Scouts for two years.  After receiving my Bachelors in Music Education, I fell in love with teaching elementary school and created a strong musical program for 11 years.  I received my Masters of Music in Music Technology from Southern Utah University and switched to teach at my online school where I teach Music Appreciation, Music Theory and Music Production.  Watching students grow every semester is amazing to see and I want to work with more students who are looking to push themselves musically.

Teaching Style

Student centered teaching is important to me.  I want to meet the student where they are, develop a relationship and build from there.  What inspires you? What motivates you? Where is your passion?  These are all questions that I use with my students so we can build off of that foundation.

Authentic feedback is a key component to how I work and teaching students how to be self reflective or their work/practice habits.

Curriculum

I will be creating/providing most of the resources.  Some percussion books may be necessary depending on the level of the student.
