About

Five years ago, I never would have thought that I would be a teacher; but now, teaching is my passion and my calling.

Hi! I'm Veronae, but my friends call me Emilly. I am a dedicated and experienced English Language teacher and tutor of four years. I am extensively experienced in teaching both in-person and online, to small groups, large groups and individuals one-on-one.

I am very personable and enjoy conversations and socializing with different people. I like to hear other people's ideas and exchange opinions in a friendly way.

At this time, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language, Literature and Culture, with a 2023 expected completion date. I am always studying and working to improve myself as a teacher; I am TEFL trained and certified. Additionally, I am currently training to help students prepare for and pass the IELTS examination.

I believe that teaching is one of the most rewarding professions. I feel rewarded and fulfilled as a teacher, especially when I see my students attaining remarkable improvements in their use of the language.

Personally, I enjoy singing and I spend a lot of time helping others (children and adults) to prepare for singing in front of large audiences. I love pets and I enjoy taking care of children. I married my best friend and I am a mother to a beautiful baby. When I am stressed, I sing, take walks by the seaside or have a movie session with popcorn.

I am excited to meet you!

Teaching Style

I mainly approach lessons as a facilitator, as I believe that my role as teacher/tutor is to facilitate students' learning and improvement, rather than simply lecturing. I am extremely approachable and I strongly encourage my students to discuss their thoughts and ask questions. I make use of Total Physical Response (TPR) where applicable, and always use the Communicative Language Teaching approach to encourage students to actively engage with and use the target language.

My lessons are always fun, lively and engaging, and I ensure that the topic and materials/resources that I use are interactive, relevant and beneficial to my students. However, I am able to switch my teaching style to suit the different learning styles of my students, therefore, I take a more heavily student-centered approach,

As an individual, I am calm under pressure and I exude a warm and inviting energy, ensuring that my students are relaxed, comfortable and confident, and that they truly enjoy speaking the language. I pride myself as a kind and patient teacher. I understand that sometimes my students may feel frustrated or disgruntled for one reason or another, therefore, I treat them gently as we go through the lesson and meet them where they are. I work at my students' pace to help them fully master each concept rather than rushing them through a syllabus/curriculum.

If you have any questions regarding my lessons or my teaching approach, don't wait to ask. I am ready to respond to your questions or concerns, to give you a better idea of what to expect from my lessons. I want you to feel at home during our lessons and I desire for you to have the most fulfilling experience.
