Della Thigpen

Della is owner and chef of Something Small Catering and has over 15 years in teaching experience.  She loves exploring new and interesting flavors, and brings that food passion to her audience.  Through years experience in the kitchen, Della has developed a skillset and strategies to help even the most novice chefs. As both a mom and former elementary school teacher, she is able to walk budding chefs through the basics of cooking and kitchen safety.

I believe in meeting students where they are and acting as a guide through the learning process.  I use a variety of strategies throughout a lesson that include questioning, modeling, and positive reinforcement.  I believe in bringing in a student's interest and am quick to make adjustments to meet the needs of each individual student.
