Rachelle Armstead
About
I've been teaching music composition and theory, violin, guitar, voice, and piano for the last five years. In addition to teaching, I work as a professional composer, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist. I have been playing guitar for 19+ years and violin for 17+ years, and in 2022, I earned a Master of Music in Composition from the University of South Carolina School of Music.
Teaching Style
My approach to teaching has been formed by an understanding of student individuality. Students flourish when given opportunities to explore their interests; therefore, I proactively engage in cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary, and learner-focused lesson plans. In addition to technique, I teach students to read sheet music, guitar tabs, and chord sheets. I also incorporate foundational music theory so that they can understand how their favorite songs are constructed and learn to write their own. With regular practice, students can expect to improve weekly in their guitar, violin, or compositional technique. I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a better musician!
