Christian Midy
About
Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Christian Midy is a devoted flutist currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in flute performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Under the tutelage of esteemed flutist Judith Mendenhall, Christian showcases exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to his musical journey.
His musical achievements include being named a finalist in the ACSM Concerto Competition and receiving prestigious awards such as the Chamber Music Live Award and the Discimus ut Serviamus Award.
Christian's musical versatility and passion have led to performances alongside distinguished ensembles such as the Queens College Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, and various Chamber Ensembles, highlighting his artistry and steadfast commitment to the flute.
I am earning my undergraduate degree in Music Performance of Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. I will be pursuing my graduate degree in Music Performance at Bard Conservatory, under the tutelage of Tara Helen O'Connor. I am well-trained in Music Theory, piano skills, etc.
Teaching Style
My process for working with a new student is working on technical abilities and tone. I like to really refine these two important parts of flute playing. Then we would look into the pieces that the student is learning and break down the piece by parts to make the students private practicing less stressful.
