Jasper
About
I'm Jasper, a professional guitarist, arranger, author, and music teacher offering personalized, one-on-one online guitar lessons to students across the United States and worldwide.
With over 12 years of teaching experience, I help beginners and experienced guitarists develop solid technique, musical confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of music. Whether your goal is to master classical guitar, play your favorite songs, improve your fingerstyle technique, or learn to improvise, I can help you make meaningful progress.
I hold a master's-level qualification in Classical Guitar (MECES Level 3) from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, as well as a Master of Science in Engineering, completed in Germany. I have performed internationally, developed original guitar arrangements, and taught both in conservatories and privately. I am also the author of books on musicology and the Pythagorean musical tradition.
My background brings together artistic expression, technical precision, and a structured approach to learning. Inspired by the Pythagorean tradition, I believe that truly understanding music is just as important as learning to play it.
I teach in English and Spanish, and I welcome students who want to discover what they are really capable of achieving with the guitar.
Teaching Style
Learn the guitar you love, with a method designed around you.
My online lessons combine the precision of classical guitar training with the freedom of improvisation, creativity, and practical musical understanding.
Whether you're starting from scratch, returning to the guitar after several years, or looking to overcome a technical plateau, we'll work together to develop your skills at a comfortable but productive pace.
Depending on your interests, we can focus on:
-
Classical Guitar & Fingerstyle: develop beautiful tone, precision, coordination, and expressive playing.
-
Your Favorite Songs: learn the music you love, including popular songs, classical pieces, and original arrangements of soundtracks.
-
Improvisation & Creativity: understand how to create your own musical ideas and express yourself freely.
-
Technique & Confidence: overcome difficulties, build reliable playing habits, and improve fluency.
-
Musical Understanding: discover how melody, harmony, and rhythm work together, without getting lost in unnecessary theory.
-
Music Reading & Ear Training: develop these skills according to your interests and goals.
What makes my lessons different?
My background in both music and engineering has helped me develop a method that is structured, logical, and highly personalized. I don't believe in simply repeating exercises without understanding their purpose. I want you to know what you're doing, why it works, and how to apply it independently.
Lessons are taught live, online, and individually, usually in 60-minute weekly sessions. You'll also have access to a personalized Google Drive folder where we organize your practice materials, assignments, and progress.
My ultimate goal is to help you become a confident, expressive, and independent musician.
Ready to take the next step? Send me a message telling me about your playing experience and musical goals. I'd be delighted to help you plan your first lesson!
Curriculum
A structured approach, personalized to your musical goals.
My teaching method combines traditional classical guitar pedagogy, practical musicianship, and principles inspired by the Pythagorean musical tradition.
Rather than applying the same curriculum to every student, I adapt each lesson to your experience, interests, and learning pace.
We begin by identifying your goals and current abilities. From there, I develop a progressive learning path that connects technical exercises, repertoire, musical understanding, and creativity.
I believe that technique should always serve music. Instead of mechanically repeating movements, you'll learn to understand the relationship between your hands, the sound you produce, and the musical ideas behind what you play.
When appropriate, I create custom exercises and guitar arrangements designed specifically for your needs.
Between lessons, we use a shared Google Drive folder to organize practice assignments, repertoire, learning materials, and progress notes. This helps you practice effectively and maintain a clear sense of direction.
My aim is to give you more than individual pieces or exercises: I want you to develop lasting musical skills, independence, and the ability to enjoy your instrument for years to come.
