About
Hi, I'm Diana:) I'm a military musician in the Portuguese Air Force Band, where I play clarinet and E♭ clarinet.
My journey as a clarinet teacher began in 2013. My approach is focused on technical development, musicality, and student confidence.
I completed my early musical training at the Choral Phydelius Conservatory, where I achieved Grade 5, and later attended the Professional Course for Wind Instrumentalists (Clarinet) at Escola Profissional Metropolitana in Lisbon, studying with Professor Iva Barbosa.
I hold a degree in Orchestral Performance (Clarinet) from the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra in Lisbon, where I studied with Professor Nuno Silva.
Throughout my career, I have taught clarinet at the Academia de Música da Ericeira and Ribaldeira. I currently offer in-person lessons in the Lisbon area, as well as online lessons tailored to each student’s needs.
Teaching Style

I also support students from conservatories and music academies, helping them prepare for auditions, entrance exams, and graded music assessments. My approach focuses on building confidence, improving technical skills, and achieving strong performance results.
I have extensive experience preparing students for Trinity College London exams, including the *Graded Examination in Music Performance*. My students consistently achieve high marks, including distinctions and scores above 90.
Curriculum
For beginners, lessons combine instrumental technique with the development of rhythm and music reading skills in a clear and supportive way. Each lesson is adapted to your pace to ensure steady and enjoyable progress.
All students receive personalized sheet music and support materials according to their level and objectives.
There are 3 moments in my lessons: Technical, where we focus on scales and exercises, learning all the notes and positions, and articulations; Sight-reading to practice score reading; perfect a étude or piece that we're working on.
Along the classes, I provide information about material, reeds and how to take care of them, correct ways of assembling the instrument and keeping it clean, correct posture, and every detail you need to know to play successfully.
For the online lessons, all you need is your clarinet, a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. Having a quiet and comfortable space will help you get the most out of each lesson, but no special setup is required, just bring your instrument and motivation!
