__________
Xin He is a third-year Horn Fellow at the New World Symphony. Based primarily in Miami, FL, Xin has performed extensively throughout the U.S., having spent summers at the Spoleto Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, National Repertory Orchestra, Sarasota Music Festival and the National Orchestral Institute + Festival. She was also a fellow at the New York String Orchestra Seminar. She has performed with groups such as the Rochester Philharmonic and Hartford Symphony as a substitute musician.
In addition to her horn playing, Xin has had an online studio comprising of students of all ages and experiences since 2018 and was previously a volunteer teaching artist and a Substitute Teaching Artist with the Baltimore Symphony’s OrchKids program, based on El Sistema, where she provided lessons and assisted with brass class and ensembles.
Xin has recently graduated with a master of music degree from the Yale School of Music in 2023 under the tutelage of William Purvis and a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 2020 under Peter Kurau. Her other teachers include William VerMeulen, Maura McCune-Corvington and former New World Symphony Fellow Larry Williams.
Teaching Style
I tailor my teaching style to individual students, combining bits of their personal goals with what I think is best for their musical development. I don't believe a highly critical approach is helpful, and would prefer to work with the student to positively achieve their dreams while maintaining a high personal standard!
I can help advanced high school and college horn players prepare for auditions and improve consistency and adults who may be a little intimidated by the world of the classical music and want a good place to start!
