About

Hi! I'm Ruth, an experienced and creative English tutor with a degree in Operations Research & Statistics and over 2 years of teaching experience. I help students of all ages, especially beginners, children, and adult learners, build strong English skills in grammar, writing, reading, and conversation.

My approach is warm, patient, and personalized. I believe that learning should be engaging and meaningful. As a children’s book author and creator of educational resources like busy books, I bring storytelling, games, and visuals into my lessons to make learning fun for young learners. For older students and adults, I focus on building confidence, accuracy, and real-world communication skills.

Each lesson is tailored to your level, pace, and goals. Whether you're learning English for school, travel, work, or personal growth, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Let’s make learning English an enjoyable and rewarding journey together!

Teaching Style

I create a warm and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to practice and improve their English skills. My lessons are interactive and engaging, combining clear explanations with fun activities like storytelling, role-playing, and games to make language learning enjoyable.

I customize each lesson to meet the student’s level, goals, and interests, whether it’s improving speaking fluency, mastering grammar, or building vocabulary. I especially enjoy working with children, using creative resources and visual aids to keep them motivated and help them develop strong foundational language skills.

Patience and encouragement are at the heart of my teaching. I believe every student learns at their own pace, and I’m committed to helping them build confidence and achieve steady progress in English.

Curriculum

My teaching method is student-centered, interactive, and communicative. I focus on creating a positive and engaging atmosphere where students can practice all four key language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

I use a variety of techniques including:

  • Storytelling and role-play to build conversational skills and vocabulary in a natural, fun way.

  • Games and interactive activities to keep lessons lively and maintain student motivation.

  • Visual aids and flashcards to support memory and comprehension, especially for younger learners.

  • Step-by-step grammar explanations with plenty of practice to build accuracy.

  • Personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's goals and proficiency level.

I believe in encouraging students to learn through real-life contexts and meaningful communication, helping them build confidence and practical language skills.

For structured learning and practice, I recommend the following texts depending on age and level:

  • For Children (Ages 5-12):

    • “Oxford Discover” series — great for building vocabulary and critical thinking

    • “Let's Go” series by Oxford — fun and engaging for beginner ESL learners

    • “Storybooks for Kids” — I also incorporate my own children’s books and busy books for extra practice

  • For Teens and Adults (Beginner to Intermediate):

    • “English File” series by Oxford — comprehensive and balanced skills practice

    • “Headway” series by Oxford — clear grammar and vocabulary progression

    • “Cambridge English Skills” series — focused on practical language skills and exam prep

I tailor the choice of texts based on student interests, age, and learning objectives to ensure lessons remain engaging and effective.
