Christine Kao
About
Hi, I’m Christine, a cellist from Taiwan and a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where I studied with Peter Stumpf. I currently play with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and this past summer I performed as Co-Principal Cello with the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado.
I love teaching just as much as I enjoy performing. My goal is to help students discover their own unique style in music! Whether you are just starting out or preparing for auditions, I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned and making music an enjoyable journey for you!
Teaching Style
My lessons balance solid technique with creativity, so students feel both confident and inspired. I adapt to each student’s goals—whether it’s exams, auditions, or just playing for fun. Growing up in a family of music teachers, I learned how to support students through challenges with patience and encouragement. Most of all, I want learning to be enjoyable and motivating!
