About

Hi! I’m Chandler, and I’ve been teaching guitar since 2013. Over the last twelve years I’ve worked with well over a hundred students of all ages—from 5-year-olds picking up a guitar for the first time, to adults getting back into music, to intermediate and advanced players looking to break out of a plateau.

I’ve been playing music my entire life. I started piano lessons at age 4, guitar at 9, and by 14 I was performing and recording professionally. My bands have released multiple projects over the years, including an EP with Golden Ghost Records and independent releases under different projects. My most recent work is my solo project Coldfront, where I write, record, and produce everything myself. All of this real-world musical experience informs the way I teach, and it helps me connect what we learn in lessons to what actually works in the real world.

I teach a wide range of styles—jazz, progressive rock, indie, math rock, singer-songwriter, and more—and I’m comfortable adapting to whatever a student is excited about. Some students want to learn their favorite songs. Some want to shred. Some want to understand music on a deeper, harmonic level. Some have no idea what they want yet. That’s all totally fine.

My teaching approach is flexible, student-centered, and built around designing a personalized curriculum based on each person’s interests, strengths, and goals.

  • For younger beginners, I often use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method to build solid technique and confidence.

  • For older kids, teens, and adults, we usually follow what you want to learn, mixing technique, repertoire, and music theory as needed.

  • For students who feel stuck or plateaued, I love digging into improvisation, harmony, and fretboard understanding—especially through a jazz-influenced lens. Helping a student suddenly “get it” and unlock new musical territory is genuinely my favorite part of teaching.

Students usually describe me as patient, funny, passionate, and easy to work with. I tend to build momentum in lessons—once we find a musical idea worth chasing, I get excited and that energy carries us forward. My goal is always to help you grow in a way that feels inspiring, doable, and personally meaningful.

Whether you’re a total beginner, someone returning to guitar after a break, or an intermediate/advanced player who wants to develop improvisation, writing, technique, or theory, I’d love to help you get there.

Let’s make some progress together.

Teaching Style

My teaching approach is flexible, student-centered, and built around designing a personalized curriculum based on each person’s interests, strengths, and goals.

Curriculum

  • For younger beginners, I often use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method to build solid technique and confidence.

  • For older kids, teens, and adults, we usually follow what you want to learn, mixing technique, repertoire, and music theory as needed. If you aren't sure where to start, I usually recommend Berklee's "A Modern Method For Guitar, Vol. 1" by William Leavitt.

  • For students who feel stuck or plateaued, I love digging into improvisation, harmony, and fretboard understanding—especially through a jazz-influenced lens. Helping a student suddenly “get it” and unlock new musical territory is genuinely my favorite part of teaching.
