About

Hello, I’m Anand, a professionally trained fine artist and watercolor painter based in Bangalore, India, with over 10 years of experience teaching art and painting.

I believe you don’t need to be “naturally talented” or have years of experience to enjoy watercolor. Many of the adults I teach are complete beginners, hobby artists, or people returning to painting after many years. Some simply want a creative break from their busy lives, while others want to build their skills and become more confident painters.

Wherever you are in your watercolor journey, my goal is to make learning clear, enjoyable, and encouraging.

In my lessons, we’ll explore watercolor step by step, from understanding washes, brush control, and color mixing to painting landscapes, still life, and subjects that interest you. Rather than simply asking you to copy what I paint, I want to help you understand why something works so that, over time, you can approach your own paintings with greater confidence and independence.

I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts and have over a decade of teaching experience. I previously served as an Art Faculty member at Isha Samskriti, where I taught art and painting for eight years, and for the past four years, I have been serving as Head of the Art Department at Delhi Public School Bangalore East.

Alongside teaching, I continue to actively practice watercolor painting, both outdoors through plein air painting and in the studio. My work focuses primarily on landscapes and still life, and I enjoy exploring both loose and detailed approaches to watercolor.

From 2022 to 2024, I served as the South India Head of the International Watercolor Society (India Chapter), and I was also honored to receive the People’s Choice Award at Kalarambh’s National Watercolor Competition.

My lessons are relaxed and supportive, but they are also structured around helping you make real progress. We can work on the fundamentals, explore specific techniques, paint together, discuss your work, or focus on areas where you feel stuck. Lessons can be adapted to your experience, interests, and personal goals.

Whether you’re picking up a watercolor brush for the first time, rediscovering an old hobby, or looking to take your painting skills further, I’d be happy to help you enjoy the process and grow as an artist.

I look forward to painting with you!

Teaching Style

I primarily work with beginners in watercolor painting, including adults who are learning painting for the first time or revisiting it after many years.

My teaching focuses on building strong fundamentals such as water control, brush handling, color mixing, washes, tonal values, and simple composition. These are explained clearly using live demonstrations and easy practice exercises. I also help students learn how to observe their subject—seeing light and dark clearly, noticing soft and hard edges, simplifying forms into basic shapes, and making thoughtful color choices while painting.

These fundamentals are gradually applied to help students complete simple watercolor paintings, such as landscapes, everyday objects, or still life, with confidence. Lessons are structured yet flexible, allowing students to learn at a comfortable pace, ask questions freely, and build confidence through regular practice.

Curriculum

Lessons are guided through live demonstrations and simple practice exercises created specifically for each student. No prior textbooks or materials are required.
