Joe Sandusky
About
With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Joe has dedicated his career to guitar education and performance. He spent 16 years as a private guitar instructor, teaching students of all ages and skill levels throughout the Orlando, Florida area. He later served for 14 years on the faculty of Winter Park High School, where he taught six guitar classes daily, ranging from beginning through advanced levels (Levels 1–4), helping to develop one of the region’s most successful high school guitar programs.
In addition, Joe served as an adjunct guitar professor at Seminole Community College, where he taught both music majors and community education students. During his tenure, he founded the college’s first Guitar Ensemble for music majors, expanding performance opportunities and enriching the guitar curriculum. His decades of experience as an educator have earned him a reputation for excellence in instruction, mentorship, and student development.
Teaching Style
As an educator, Joe is committed to helping each student achieve their individual musical goals. He tailors lesson plans to each student's skill level, interests, and aspirations, creating a personalized learning experience that is both engaging and effective. By incorporating music that students enjoy, he uses familiar songs as a foundation for developing technique, musicianship, and a deeper understanding of music.
Drawing on decades of teaching experience, Joe has developed a keen ability to identify and address both technical and musical challenges. Whether a student is working to improve technique, rhythm, tone, improvisation, or overall musicianship, he provides clear, practical solutions that lead to measurable progress. Having taught thousands of students throughout his career, he is skilled at explaining musical concepts in multiple ways, ensuring that each student can learn in the manner that best suits their individual needs and learning style.
Curriculum
i have developed my own approach to reading notation and learning chords, but I believe that every student learns differently. Rather than requiring a specific method or set of concepts, I adapt my teaching to each individual's needs and preferences. If you already have a learning system that works for you, I am happy to build upon it. My goal is to design lessons that align directly with your musical interests, learning style, and personal objectives, helping you make meaningful progress toward your goals.
