Savannah Koonce
About
Dedicated and student-centered ESL teacher with 9 years of experience supporting English language learners at the elementary level, creating inclusive learning environments that foster language growth, confidence, and academic achievement. Skilled in developing differentiated instruction, implementing culturally responsive practices, and building strong relationships with students and families.
Certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) through Máximo Nivel in Guatemala, bringing an international, culturally rich perspective to language instruction. Alongside extensive work in elementary ESL, I also have experience teaching adult ESL learners, supporting a range of proficiency levels—from beginners establishing foundational communication skills to advanced learners refining academic and workplace English.
Teaching Style
Grounded in the teaching philosophy “I’ll meet you where you are,” I design instruction around students’ individual strengths, backgrounds, and goals. I believe that language learning progresses most powerfully when students feel seen, supported, and encouraged to take risks. Every learner arrives with unique experiences, and I am committed to honoring those experiences while guiding them toward their next steps in language growth.
Passionate about helping learners of all ages achieve success through engaging lessons, meaningful connections, and consistent scaffolding. Committed to ongoing professional growth and to creating a welcoming, empowering environment for English learners and their families.
