I’ve spent over two decades working at the top of the editorial and commercial photographic business as both photographer and director. My work has appeared regularly in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and I’ve created campaigns for some of the world’s most iconic luxury brands. During that time, I’ve photographed some of the most celebrated faces in the world and have become a known authority on photographic technique. Now I want to share what I’ve learned with photographers who are serious about growing.
Teaching Style
My career has been built on an instinctive understanding of light and color — something I can teach you to see and use in a completely new way. While my photographic practice is primarily digital, my experience working with photography goes back more than 25 years — I’m happy to work with students who want to explore or deepen their analog practice. As well as coaching talent in front of both still and motion cameras, I’ve taught scores of photographic assistants over the past 25 years, many of whom have found success as professional photographers. I have also held workshops and lectured in schools across the United States.

Whether you’re applying to art school or a photography program or putting together a professional portfolio to attract clients and employers, I can help you edit your work with a sharp eye, present it with confidence, and tell a compelling visual story. Every session is a one-on-one masterclass, tailored entirely to you. I believe great photography comes from curiosity and a willingness to embrace imperfection. I’ll push you creatively, give you honest feedback, and share the hard-won lessons from a career spent working at the very highest level. British artist Ben Hassett (born London, 1974) is well known for his body of editorial and portrait work that spans more than two decades. His first monograph, COLOR, published in 2019, presented a cross section of his iconic and visceral photographic work.
His daily practice involves experimental photography and photographic research. He examines photography’s most significant and recurrent themes (the landscape, the still life, the nude, the floral study), and produces conceptually driven work in an effort to decode, reevaluate, and challenge conventional thinking.
As one of the most sought-after photographers in the world, Ben Hassett is best known for his striking portrait photography and his use of shadow and light to create visceral, highly polished images. Over the course of his 15-year career, he has photographed many of the world’s leading actresses and supermodels, including Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Tilda Swinton and Jennifer Aniston, to name a few. He’s solicited by top international fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Numéro and W Magazine, and has created iconic advertising campaigns for brands such as Christian Dior, YSL, Shiseido, Burberry, Bulgari, Calvin Klein and L'Oréal. His passion for photography remains unabated, where he continues to push the boundaries of still photography and more recently, digital motion video.
