Aage Nielsen
About
I have been teaching clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, and oboe for 40 years, having previously served on the adjunct faculty at The College of Idaho and Northwest Nazarene University. I am an active performer in the Portland, Oregon area as a member of several chamber ensembles, and previously having been the bass clarinetist with the Boise Philharmonic for over 20 years. I teach from beginner to graduate level. I earned my BA at Northwest Nazarene University and my MA at Boise State University.
Teaching Style
My teaching style has a strong emphasis on fundamentals at all levels, to help students develop skill levels to play the music that most appeals to them. Classical, popular, and traditional music are all tailored to the student's individual ability and taste.
Curriculum
Depending on the student's level, students use the Klosé Celebrated Method, The Rose Études, Rubank, Kroepsch, Ferling, Barret, among others.
Credentials & Affiliations
I am a member of the International Clarinet Association (ICA) and The National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM).
