Learn more about me and what I can do for you!

I absolutely love teaching all styles of singing and piano playing. My students work in a lesson book in addition to their choice in song. I believe in finding their motivation for music, building an unshakable foundation of practice strategies and sheet music reading, practice and time management, and building artistry in the process. Students are drawn to different styles and find their skill pathway based on the songs styles we experience.

I have worked students with differing personalities, ages, ambitions, work ethics, emotional states, behavioral needs. One thing I've learned by doing lessons this long is everyone is unique, therefore their lessons become unique too. Lessons are long-term temporary, so I believe what holds the most value are the skills I can leave them with so music becomes a lifetime hobby or even professional skillset. I emphasize becoming an independent musician where they learn all the tools to learn new material and understand their own drive to keep music thriving in their lives once our lessons conclude.

Teaching Style

Voice Styles I work with regularly: Disney, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Folk, Musical, Foreign language songs, any student choice song. Honestly, I've seen every style out there, but I go with what the students wants for style. If they don't know, I start them with Disney or Musical songs while we learn to read sheet music. Singer progression is unique because there is too much variation in songs and difficulty level from song to song, so to help with guided progression, my students work with the Patterns of Sound book series while learning solfege and sight singing- they can sing without any reference point, true musicianship.

Piano styles I work with regularly: Boroque, Classical, Lesson series, Composition, Folk, Jazz, Ragtime, Modern, piano for singers, video game music, you name it! I can help with it. Piano is one of the most accessible instruments ever created, making it the lesson type I've taught the most of. I work in the piano adventure series because I believe it has the most accessible approach to two hands, levels of playing, and long term interest for different song styles and a great approach to skill development.

Unshakable musicianship: With me, students are taught to read music, are taught strategies to rehearse themselves, experience how to write music and do basic composition, and understand scales, chords, improvisation, conducting, and how the piano or voice physically works and how to maintain it.
