About
Music is more than an art form to me—it's a universal language that allows us to express thoughts, emotions, and experiences in ways that words often cannot. I believe music helps people connect with their most authentic selves, fostering creativity, confidence, and meaningful self-expression.
With over nine years of teaching experience, I am passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals, whether they are learning for personal enjoyment or pursuing formal examinations and advanced study. My lessons are tailored to each student's unique interests, learning style, and aspirations, creating an engaging and supportive environment where growth can flourish.
Music has been a central part of my life since childhood. As both a performer and educator, I enjoy drawing from a wide range of musical styles, blending influences from classical, pop, jazz, funk, and blues to create a rich and versatile musical perspective.
I began classical piano training at the age of four and hold teaching qualifications from Trinity College London and the London College of Music. I also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music. My goal is to inspire students not only to develop strong technical skills, but also to discover the joy, confidence, and personal fulfillment that music can bring.
Teaching Style
I believe in positive-reinforcement and my teaching style is encouraging and nurturing. My bubbly personality helps keep students enthusiastic and engaged.
For every student, I develop a customized plan for the learner and introduce concepts at a pace that will be appropriately challenging. I strive to be personable so clients and students feel comfortable being themselves with me, optimizing the learning mindset. I have a healthy client base of adult students and children, as my flexible teaching style allows tailoring lessons to an individual's interests.
Curriculum
For beginners, we will generally follow the Faber's Piano Adventure series to learn the basics of note reading, rhythm, ear training, technique and artistry. This series gives the student a strong understanding to branch into the different genres - whether pop, contemporary, classical, or jazz.
In addition to the text, I highly encourage students to bring in music that they know and love into our lessons - or tell me what songs they want to learn. We can learn them as-is if the level is appropriate for the students. Otherwise, I create an arrangement that is suitable for the student.
For students whose interests lean more into classical music, I use the ABRSM syllabus which emphasizes a strong technical foundation, and well-rounded learning through the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary Eras.
