Hiroko Hiwatashi

I am a Berklee College of Music graduate, a classically trained classical pianist, and a working professional in the film and television scoring industry. My professional experience includes serving as a Composer's Assistant on the Japanese adaptation of True Beauty, contributing music to the TV Asahi drama series Borderless, and providing score preparation for feature film projects. Through these roles, I have developed expertise in composition, orchestration, music notation, and score preparation within professional production environments.

In addition to my industry work, I have over four years of teaching experience. I am fluent in English, Japanese, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and have worked with students from a variety of cultural and musical backgrounds. My background combines extensive training in classical piano performance with professional experience in film scoring, composition, and music production.

My teaching style is personalized, supportive, and goal-oriented. I tailor each lesson to the student's experience level, interests, and goals, whether they are studying classical piano, music theory, composition, film scoring, music production, or preparing for music school auditions.

I focus on building strong fundamentals while encouraging creativity, confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of music.
