Teaching Style
Hello, my name is Ken and I have been teaching guitar and other instruments for over 30 years. I focus on fundamentals like good practice habits, basic music theory, strong rhythm and improvisation. These are concepts which allow students to understand and be comfortable in any style of music, and even other instruments. Having a strong grasp of the fundamentals also makes it easy and fun to do one of the things that I love most to do, which is playing music with others and even performing, and being part of a community of musicians.
I have a degree in classical guitar performance, and have taught for over 30 years independently and in a variety of different music schools around the country. I have also performed solo and with a variety of different styles, including, rock, funk, jazz, classical and world music. My teaching style has been informed by my work with students of all ages and experience levels.
