Donna Morgan
About
I'm a clarinetist and educator with a lifelong passion for music and more than a decade of experience leading and mentoring musicians. My career has taken me from performing and commanding Army bands across the country and overseas to developing training programs for some of the most elite musical units in the military. Whether I was guiding 70 soldiers in The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps or shaping curriculum for professional musicians, my focus has always been the same: helping people grow, gain confidence, and find joy in their craft. Now, I bring that same dedication to private clarinet instruction, offering virtual lessons that meet students where they are and help them reach the next level.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is friendly, encouraging, and student‑centered. I believe that every player — whether a brand‑new beginner or a returning adult — deserves a supportive space where learning feels comfortable and progress feels achievable. I break concepts down clearly, celebrate small wins, and tailor each lesson to the student’s personality and goals. Students can expect patience, positivity, and a teacher who genuinely enjoys helping them discover what they’re capable of.
Curriculum
My approach blends strong fundamentals with practical, goal‑driven learning. I focus on tone development, technique, articulation, and musical expression, using a mix of method books, curated exercises, and repertoire that keeps students motivated. Because of my background in curriculum design, I create clear, personalized lesson plans that build skills step by step. Students receive weekly guidance, practice strategies, and constructive feedback so they always know what to work on and how to improve.
