About

Hello! I am Dr. Felipe Luzuriaga. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I am a devoted teacher and passionate performer. I completed both my Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the University of Toronto and a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Boston Conservatory in Massachusetts. I had the amazing opportunity to play at legendary festivals like Aspen and Juilliard. I have conducted orchestras and ensembles internationally and have toured extensively throughout the world, performing as soloist, concertmaster, and orchestral member.  My students have had many successes, including winning orchestral positions, festival and university scholarships, as well First-Class Honors in RCM examinations.

Throughout my career as a teacher, performer, and conductor, I have been blessed to work with students of all ages and backgrounds. I am especially passionate about using music to uplift others, which has given me incredible opportunities to collaborate with organizations reaching at-risk communities. One of my most cherished memories happened at the beginning of the 2020 lockdowns, when I played daily concerts from my balcony for three consecutive months. It was a beautiful, unforgettable way to share music, connect with my neighbors, and build a sense of comfort and community during a historic time. Through all of these diverse experiences, I have seen firsthand the incredible healing and transformative power of music.

In our online lessons together, my goal is to make high-level conservatory technique feel accessible, fun, and deeply rewarding. I provide a warm, completely patient, and encouraging virtual space tailored entirely to your personal pacing, learning style, and goals. Whether you are an adult beginner picking up the violin for the very first time, a young student discovering a lifelong hobby, or an advanced player preparing for an audition, I am here to guide and support you every step of the way. I cannot wait to connect with you, share the joy of the violin, and start making music together!

Teaching Style

Learning to play an instrument can be a daunting task, but it is a profoundly rewarding journey. I treat music not merely as a technical skill, but as an enriching, holistic experience. Together, we will focus on the mind through cognitive development and focus, the body by mastering physical coordination and natural rhythm, and the soul by unlocking your unique creative voice for emotional expression and genuine joy.

I do not believe in rigid, one-size-fits-all lessons. I break down intimidating technical roadblocks into small, manageable milestones tailored completely to your personal pacing and lifestyle. By creating a warm, zero-judgment virtual environment, I transform the natural frustrations of learning the violin into an inspiring process of self-discovery.

I am deeply guided by the belief that artists have a responsibility to give back to society. As a teaching artist, I consider it a true blessing to share the transformative power of music with students, audiences, and enthusiasts from all walks of life, generations, and backgrounds. Together, we will not just practice technique—we will cultivate a meaningful, lifelong connection to music that feeds your personal growth.
