About
Hello, my name is Oluwaseun Omotayo, a fashion educator and sewing instructor with over 10 years of experience in the fashion industry and fashion education. I specialize in teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginner to advanced learners. My lessons are practical, engaging, and tailored to each student's goals. Whetther you want to learn sewing as a hobby, start a fashion business, improve your garment construction skills, or master pattern drafting, I can help you achieve your objectives.
I am the founder and creative director of Leyshine Fashion School. I have trained aspiring designers and entrepreneurs from different parts of the world like, Australia, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence, creativity, and industry-ready skills through step by step guidance and hands-on learning.
I enjoy working with students from diverse bargrounds and helping them transform their fashion ideas into professional quality garments.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is student-centered, practical, and encouraging. I believe that every student learn differently, so i tailor each lesson to match the student's skill level, learning pace, and personal goals.
I break down complex sewing and fashion design concepts into simple, easy to follow steps, ensuring students gain confidence as they learn. My lesson combines theory with hands on practice, allowing students to immediately apply new skills through guided projects and real life fashion industry techniques.
I create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and develop their creativity. Whether you are a complete beginner learning to thread a sewing machine or an advanced student mastering pattern drafting and garment construction, i provide personalized guidance to help you achieve measurable progress.
My goal is not to only teach sewing and fashion design but also to inspire creativity, build confidence, and equip students with the knowledge needed to pursue fashion as a hobby, profession, or business.
Curriculum
My teaching method combines demostration, guided practice, and project-based learning. Each lesson is structured to ensure students understand both the theory and practical application of sewing and fashion design concepts.
Lessons typically include;
-Step by step demonstrations of techniques and processes -Interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions -Hands-on practice with real sewing and design projects -Personalized feedback and progress assessments -Assignments and exercises designed to reinforce learning -Industry-based tips and professional best practices.
Students can learn at their own pace while building skills progressively, from foundational techniques to advanced garment construction, pattern drafting, and fashion design projects.
While i provide customized lesson notes, and project guides, i may also recommend a few pattern making instructional books like, Pattern making for Fashion Design, Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear. Resources are selected according to each student's experience level, learning objectives and area of specialization. Beginners are not required to purchase textbooks before starting lessons, as essential learning materials will be provided during instruction.
