Christopher Brent
About
I’ve been playing piano since age six and have spent my life immersed in music. I earned my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Oakland University and continued my studies at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I’m a classical competition prizewinner through MTNA and international events. I also perform jazz piano and drums—sharing the stage with artists like Regina Carter and Spyro Gyra. After 27 years of teaching and accompanying musicians of all ages, I love helping students grow in piano, drums, and music theory. As a father of seven, I’m patient, flexible, and enjoy working with everyone from brand‑new beginners to advanced performers.
Teaching Style
I am a patient, thoughtful teacher who focuses on helping students solve musical challenges step by step. I provide clear concepts and practical tools that build confidence, strengthen technique, and support long‑term growth.
Curriculum
I use a variety of method books tailored to each student’s individual needs, along with ear‑training and creative exercises. My teaching focuses on building strong fundamental music‑reading skills, supported by supplemental repertoire from a wide range of composers. I choose materials that match the student’s goals, learning style, and pace.
