Logan Jackson

Hello! I’m Logan Jackson, a dedicated guitar and bass instructor with over 3 years of private teaching experience helping students of all ages master guitar and bass. My path in music is rooted in intensive, hands-on study, private mentorship, and real-world performance experience. Rather than relying strictly on traditional, dry textbook methods, my musical background focuses heavily on visual fretboard connection, ear training, modern genre application, and contemporary rhythm section dynamics.

My musical expertise is built on a foundation of intensive self-study, focusing deeply on advanced jazz harmony, modern rock, blues, and funk styles. As a performing musician, I have extensive live experience playing in cover bands across the Louisville, Kentucky area. Notably, I recorded guitar and bass for an original EP with the band Flip the Switch in 2017, and spent several years touring and playing live shows with them at venues and festivals across Louisville, KY, Indianapolis, IN, and Cincinnati, OH. Transitioning into professional education, I served as a guitar and bass instructor and music director at School of Rock in Louisville from 2023 to 2025, where I directed student performance groups and coached band mechanics. Currently, I serve as a Guitar, Bass, and Band Coach at Maxwell's House of Music (2025 to Present), delivering structured private instruction, leading ensemble workshops, and helping students master contemporary technique and fretboard navigation. I’ve also received training in music and audio engineering through Dark Horse Institute in Nashville, TN in 2016. 

My ultimate goal as an educator is to eliminate the frustration and clutter often associated with learning guitar and bass. Whether you want to understand how the fretboard works, build solid physical technique, or learn to play your favorite songs effortlessly, I provide a structured, encouraging environment tailored to your personal goals.

My instructional philosophy centers on a visual approach to the fretboard designed to get you playing music fast without sacrificing technical precision.

Every lesson is structured around two key elements, Fretboard Navigation and Theory. Instead of forcing students through months of tedious, disconnected notation drills before playing real music, I teach the instrument through visual patterns, shapes, and interval geometry. This approach unlocks the entire fretboard quickly and helps you understand why chords and scales connect the way they do. Modern Application, our time is divided into technical mechanics to develop your strength, dexterity, and accuracy, and real-world musical application. We spend the first part of the lesson mastering ergonomics, picking/plucking mechanics, timekeeping, and fretboard literacy. Then, we immediately apply those exact techniques to contemporary songs and genres you actually love listening to.

Following every session, you receive clear practice expectations and custom video summaries so you always know exactly what to practice throughout the week.
