Robert W. Gomes
About
Hello! My name is Robert Willian, and I am a Brazilian baritone, opera singer, and vocal teacher with a passion for helping singers discover their voices and become confident performers.
I began my musical journey at the age of 16 at the Centro de Formação Artística do Palácio das Artes, in Brazil, where I studied classical singing. I later earned a degree in Music with a specialization in Classical Singing from the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG) and continued my professional training at the Opera Academy of Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo, one of Brazil's important centers for opera training and performance.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to perform in opera productions and concerts with professional companies and orchestras, taking on roles such as Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, Germano in La scala di seta, The Wigmaker in Ariadne auf Naxos, Barbosa in the world premiere of the Brazilian opera O Machete, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, and the Marquis in La traviata, among others. These experiences have allowed me to develop not only as a singer, but also as an actor and performer.
As a teacher, I believe that every voice is unique. My goal is to help each student develop a healthy, expressive, and confident voice while respecting their individual characteristics and musical goals.
In my lessons, we can work on vocal technique, breathing, vocal support, resonance, diction, interpretation, repertoire, performance skills, and audition preparation. Whether you are just beginning your singing journey, preparing for an audition, studying classical singing, or simply want to become a more confident singer, I will adapt our lessons to your needs and experience.
My approach combines the technical knowledge of classical vocal training with the practical experience of performing on stage. I want my students to understand not only how to sing, but also how to communicate, interpret music, and feel confident using their voices.
Let's work together to develop your voice, expand your musical possibilities, and help you become the singer and performer you want to be.
I look forward to meeting you and making music together!
Teaching Style
My teaching style is personalized, supportive, and focused on developing both technique and artistic expression. I believe that every singer has a unique voice, body, and learning process, so I adapt each lesson to the student's individual needs, goals, and level of experience.
In our lessons, we will work on the foundations of healthy singing, including breathing, vocal support, resonance, vocal placement, diction, articulation, and vocal freedom. At the same time, we will explore musical interpretation, expression, stage presence, and performance skills, helping you connect your technique with your artistic identity.
I have a strong background in classical and operatic singing, but my goal is not simply to teach you to "sing louder" or imitate a particular sound. Instead, I want to help you understand your own instrument and learn how to use your voice with freedom, confidence, and expressiveness.
Whether you are a complete beginner, an experienced singer, an aspiring professional, or someone preparing for an audition, I will create a welcoming environment where you can learn, experiment, and grow.
My lessons are designed to be both technically grounded and inspiring, combining the discipline of professional vocal training with the joy of making music. Together, we will build a strong foundation, develop your unique voice, and help you become a more confident and expressive singer.
