Hi, I’m Lee from Sydney!
I’ve been teaching drums since 2010, holding both a Bachelors in Music Performance and a Masters in Psychology. By combining these two fields, I specialise in tailoring drum instruction for neurodiverse learners, particularly students with ADHD and Autism. My goal is simple: to make learning the drums accessible, engaging, and rewarding for everyone.
Beyond specialised coaching, I work with students of all skill levels across a wide range of styles—from beginners to advanced players as well as prepping students for exams and university entrance auditions.
As a long-time touring and studio session drummer, I love bringing real-world industry experience into our lessons—helping students elevate their live performance confidence and studio recording skills.
Teaching Style
My teaching approach is fluid, adaptable, and completely tailored to the student. Rather than relying solely on repetitive drills, I focus on playing along to real music. When we encounter a specific technique or bit of theory within a song, we use that "real-world" moment to learn it in context—making complex concepts much easier to grasp.
I always encourage students to bring their favorite songs to lessons! If a song is a bit too advanced, I gladly adapt or simplify the arrangement so they can start playing what they love right away. When students genuinely enjoy what they're playing, practice stops feeling like a chore and turns into genuine motivation.
Credentials & Affiliations
In 2009 I completed a higher diploma in Sound Production from the Campus of Performing Arts in South Africa. In 2013 I finished off my Bachelor of Music at Chichester University in U.K and in 2017 wrapped up my Masters in Applied Psychology from Middlesex University in U.K.
I've taught at a few schools such as the National School of Arts, and Performance Academy in South Africa. In Australia I tutored at Maxx Music Rock School and Go Mad Music. My teaching career began in 2010 to date :)
