Roshni Sridhar

I am a Trinity Grade 8 certified pianist. I enjoy working with children and adults alike and have experience in working with neurodivergent students. I have worked as faculty at 2 music schools and I now exclusively manage my private studio practice.

I completed my Undergrad in Mass Media with a major in Journalism in 2015 from Mumbai University, after which I worked as a social media executive for 2 years. I decided to pursue a career in music and started teaching piano from 2017. I was part of the piano faculty at Fruit of the Tree School of Music (2017-2018) & MusicPulse (2018-2020), both of which are based in Mumbai. At Fruit of the Tree, I accompanied the violin students on piano for their ABRSM exams & helped prepare the piano students for graded examinations, taught music theory & songs they like. At MusicPulse, I took group lessons with 15 batches of 5-students each, prepared students for Trinity exams, and helped put up a music school wide showcase at The Finch, Powai with the other faculties. After the pandemic struck in 2020, I've been running and growing my studio practice exclusively. 

In the 9+ years of working as a piano tutor, I've had the pleasure of working with over a 100 students across various age groups. I love helping students build a strong sense of musicality by nurturing appreciation for melody, harmony, rhythm and texture. My students develop a joy for the instrument and have also excelled in their graded examinations - 92% have received a Distinction grade in Trinity exams!

My approach is friendly, driven by curiosity about my students and I like to keep music education relevant. I am a music theory nerd, so I love to go explain them in an accessible way while also immediately applying it by analysing existing sheet music, or seeing a particular concept in action in a song/piece of music.

I focus on all-round musical development by fostering musicianship, good technique and fingering, music literacy (reading staff notation, music theory) and ear-training. Lessons are personalised to the goals and needs of the student. A typical lesson with me is structured as follows:

Warm-up --> Playing something old --> Learning something new --> Ear-training/Music theory games

We also learn and listen to songs you like so it always stays interesting!
