About

I’m a composer and pianist based in New Zealand, offering one-on-one online music composition lessons for students interested in classical, contemporary, film, TV, game and orchestral music. I'd love to pass on my real-world experience as a successful composer in a diverse range of styles and media. I also offer music production, electronic music and DAW tutoring.

I’ve worked professionally across a wide range of music and sound projects, including composing music for the 'Behind the Scenes' features for 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies', creating the soundtrack for the game 'Doomsday Vault', and working as a music editor for scores by Howard Shore, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis and Joseph LoDuca.

I also recently finished the first-ever completion of Franz Liszt’s unfinished 'Revolutionary Symphony', with an upcoming premiere orchestral performance soon to be announced.

Teaching Style

Lessons can cover whatever is most useful to you, including:

- Composition technique and finding your 'voice'

- Orchestration: writing for orchestra and instrumentation

- Theory: harmony, counterpoint and form

- Film and game music (both creative and technical aspects)

- Notation software and DAWs

- General feedback and guidance on your compositions

- Career development, recording and releasing your music and creating an online identity for your music

- Preparing for composition exams, university or portfolio applications

All levels welcome, from beginners who are just starting to write music through to experienced composers wanting detailed feedback on their work.
