Joseph Barrett

Joseph Barrett is a professional musician, guitarist, instructor, and composer with over 30 years experience is both solo and ensemble performance & instruction/mentoring for hundreds of students of all ages and levels.  He holds a Master's Degree in Music Performance & Education from East Carolina University, Phi Beta Kappa.  A long time native of the North Carolina regional music community, Joseph is a continuing advocate for music and arts education, is author of Horizons / Strategies for Practice & Performance, set for 2026 international release, and currently finishing his second recording 'And Miles to Go...' a collection of classical, jazz, and fingerstyle arrangements.  Joseph is currently on the faculty for McFayden Music, The Musicians's Learning Center, and a contributing member for Nash and Wayne County Arts Councils.  

I work with each student and develop individually tailored lessons to help build strong & confident foundations in music elements & technique development, ear training, resource guidance, and effective practice and performance strategies.  As learning to play an instrument is a unique and highly individualized experience, my goal is to help each student discover, develop, and refine their own process of learning and appreciation for music as a holistic journey.
