Brittany Weinstock

I am a classically-trained soprano specializing in opera (classical voice), musical theatre, and even pop music! I earned both my Performer's Diploma and my Master's of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and my Bachelor of Arts in Music (Vocal Performance) from Pepperdine University. 

I have sung numerous opera and musical theatre roles with companies such as Teatro Nuovo, Music on Site, Aspen Music Festival, Central City Opera, the Savannah VOICE Festival, Indiana University, and Pepperdine University. Some of my favorite roles include the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Micaëla in Carmen, and Jack's Mother in Into the Woods. I have also received recognition in competitions such as the Marcella Kochańska Sembrich National Vocal Competition, the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition, and the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. 

I have officially taught private voice lessons for two years, most recently as an Associate Instructor for Indiana University, where I taught group classes in voice and had a studio of private students. I also have 7 years of college admissions experience specifically in music/arts offices, and can advise on audition preparation as well. 

Each lesson will begin with warm-ups and technique work. We will sing through scales, arpeggios, and other exercises to build a strong technical foundation for the student’s singing. The second part of the lesson will be spent working on repertoire, typically one or two pieces per lesson. We will work in detail on each piece, focusing on artistic interpretation, phrasing, acting, and vocal technique.

Your voice is a mindset, not just a product. I am a friendly and encouraging teacher, and always strive to meet my students where they are at. I encourage a dialogue between student and teacher, and will guide the student toward a better understanding of their voice through demonstration and explanation. My background in a variety of styles and extensive performance experience gives me a unique approach and an open mind to all sorts of students and vocal styles. Above all, I strive to instill in my students the same joy and love of music that my teachers gave me.
