About
Background
Music has been the thread running through my whole life, and helping others find their own voice through it is what I love most about teaching. I'm a composer and orchestrator specializing in music for film, television, and animation, currently completing my MMus in Composition for Film and Television at the London College of Music. I trained classically at the Trento Conservatory, and I've since built a career that moves between the traditional orchestral world and electronic production — two languages I think every modern composer benefits from speaking.
Over the past few years I've had the privilege of working as a film composer and orchestrator on projects including the feature film The Orator, the animated feature Little Richard Shark, the TV series The Black Diamond Race, and orchestration/copyist work for major screen productions, including Tom Hiddleston's National Geographic series Pompeii. I also completed the Film Scoring Workshop at Accademia Chigiana, an experience that shaped how I think about storytelling through music. Day to day, I work across Sibelius, Dorico, Ableton Live, and Cubase — so whether a student wants to write for a live orchestra or produce entirely in the box, I can meet them there.
Teaching Style
I truly believe anyone can learn to write and produce music that moves people — it's not about being "born talented," it's about having the right tools and someone patient enough to walk through them with you. That's the spirit I bring into every lesson: warm, encouraging, and genuinely invested in what you want to create, not what I think you should create.
I shape each lesson around the student in front of me, covering things like:
- Music theory and harmony — explained in a way that actually makes sense, not just rules to memorize
- Composition — finding and developing your own musical voice and ideas
- Orchestration and arranging — writing idiomatically for instruments and ensembles, and preparing clean, professional scores
- Film and media scoring — how music serves emotion, pacing, and story
- Production and electronic music — building tracks in the DAW, sound design, and blending programmed and orchestral elements
- Notation and production software — Sibelius, Dorico, Ableton Live, and Cubase
I like to work hands-on with a student's own music whenever I can — their own piece, cue, or track — because that's where real growth happens, and it keeps lessons feeling personal rather than academic. I give feedback that's honest but always kind, and I try to create a space where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and asking anything. Whatever your goal — writing for fun, preparing for further study, or building toward a career in composition or production — I'm happy to meet you exactly where you are.
Curriculum
Teaching Method and Recommended Student Texts
All lessons are one-to-one, tailored entirely around the individual student rather than a fixed syllabus. We spend a lot of time analyzing music together — breaking down pieces, cues, or tracks to understand why they work — and always circling back to the student's own music, since that's where the real learning happens.
I don't rely on a single fixed textbook. Instead, materials are agreed with each student based on what they're working toward — this might include scores, published texts, or relevant YouTube videos and recordings, whatever best fits the piece or skill we're focused on at the time.
