About

I am a university educator with 30 years of teaching experience specializing in Economics and Business. I spent more than a decade as an Associate Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea, where I taught Economics and Business courses to students from diverse international backgrounds.

I hold an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland and a BBA from Acadia University. I am also the author of 12 textbooks and have extensive experience developing courses, learning materials, and practical activities for university students.

My areas of expertise include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, International Trade, Business Economics, and introductory Business. I can also support students preparing for AP Economics and other Economics courses at the high-school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.

Whether you need help understanding a difficult concept, working through economic models and graphs, preparing for an exam, or strengthening your overall understanding of Economics, I can tailor our lessons to your individual needs.

Teaching Style

My teaching style focuses on understanding rather than memorization. Economics becomes much easier when students understand why something happens rather than simply trying to remember definitions, formulas, or diagrams.

I explain difficult ideas in clear, straightforward language and use practical, real-world examples to make abstract concepts easier to understand. When working with graphs, models, or quantitative problems, I break the process into manageable steps and make sure the student understands the reasoning behind each one.

Lessons are adapted to the individual student. We can review course material, work through practice problems, prepare for examinations, discuss assignments, or focus intensively on concepts that are causing difficulty.

I encourage questions and want students to feel comfortable saying when something still doesn't make sense. My goal is not simply to help students get through the next assignment or exam, but to help them develop the understanding and confidence to solve problems independently.

Curriculum

Lessons are tailored to each student’s course, goals, and current level of understanding. I typically begin by identifying the concepts or problems causing difficulty, then use clear explanations, real-world examples, graphs, models, and guided practice to build understanding step by step.

Students are encouraged to bring their course syllabus, textbook, lecture materials, practice questions, or other relevant materials to lessons. I generally work with the textbook and resources assigned by the student’s school or university rather than requiring a particular text.
