Adriano Henrique Vaz Ferreira
About
I am a Brazilian pianist, educator, and practice strategist with over 17 years of teaching experience. Since 2012, I have lived in Germany, where I completed two consecutive Master’s degrees—Klavier Solo in 2014 and Klavier Kammermusik in 2018—at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. I also taught Klavier Pflichtfach there for nearly four years (2015–2019) to university-level students.
After being diagnosed with Focal Dystonia in 2016, I spent the following eight years completely restructuring my approach to music learning, successfully overcoming the vast majority of my physical symptoms. Today, I leverage my journey to help musicians optimize their practice routines, overcome physical limitations, and build sustainable, efficient technique.
Teaching Style
My main goal is to help students improve their practice skills to accelerate their progress toward their specific goals.
I view myself as a musical catalyst rather than a traditional teacher. Through an individualized approach, I analyze how each student tackles the technical challenges of their repertoire and guide them to think outside the box to achieve better results efficiently.
With over 17 years of experience, I work with pianists of all skill levels—adapting to each student's natural pace while constantly driving steady improvement.
Efficient practicing is an art in itself. My mission is to empower students to master this art, fulfill their true potential, and fully express themselves through music.
Curriculum
My lessons are deliberately slow-paced, focusing deeply on understanding the technical issue at hand and tackling it from multiple angles. Whether dealing with a mechanical challenge, sound blocks understanding (a core concept in my teaching), aural perception, movement choreography, or time management, I approach each issue comprehensively to teach students how to think proactively and solve problems independently.
With time, deliberate practice, and above all, patience, students come to realize that efficient practice is ultimately nothing more than a well-cultivated habit.
