Matteo Bizzarri
About
I’m Matteo, a jazz pianist, composer, and arranger writing music for film, animation, and live performance. I hold a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition and a PhD in Philosophy from Scuola Normale Superiore, where I explored connections between logic and music.
My approach combines creative exploration with a clear understanding of harmony and musical structure. We’ll work with your musical ideas to develop your craft and personal voice, whether you’re composing a first piece, arranging for an ensemble, or scoring a scene. Lessons are available in English and Italian.
Teaching Style
My approach combines creativity with clear, practical explanations. We’ll explore harmony, melody, rhythm, and form through listening, focused exercises, and your own compositions. Lessons are tailored to your interests and experience, with constructive feedback to help you develop your ideas and make confident musical choices.
Curriculum
Lessons combine listening, score analysis, and practical composition exercises, progressing toward complete pieces. We’ll study examples relevant to your interests and apply what we discover to your own music, with focused feedback and clear goals between sessions.
Materials are selected according to your level and goals: scores, recordings, tailored exercises, and relevant readings. No textbook is required to begin; suitable references can be recommended as your interests develop.
I believe composition is closely connected to musical analysis. We’ll work directly with scores to explore how music is constructed, discover new techniques, and apply them to your own compositions.
