Erola Masqué

I'm Erola Masqué, a violinist and violin teacher trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where I graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelor's degree and am now completing a Master's in Performance under Krzysztof Smietana (previously under Stephanie Gonley).

Alongside my playing career — performing across Spain, the UK, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, and Portugal with orchestras and chamber ensembles, and currently Leader of Second Violins with the Orquestra Simfònica Segle XXI — I've been teaching privately and in schools since 2019. I currently work with over 50 students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to those preparing for junior conservatoire auditions and ABRSM graded exams.

I'm a recipient of the British Spanish Society Award for my work on cultural exchange through music, and I teach in English, Spanish, Catalan, and German. I care about building genuine confidence at the instrument, not just technical skill, and I tailor every lesson to what each student actually needs to grow.

My teaching is built around each student's individual goals, whether that's playing for pleasure, passing a graded exam, or preparing for a conservatoire audition. I focus first on a secure technical foundation — posture, bow hold, left-hand position, and intonation — because that's what lets musical expression happen freely later on.

Lessons are structured but warm: clear short-term goals each week, honest feedback, and plenty of encouragement. I adapt my pace and language to whoever's in front of me — I've taught complete beginners as young as 6 and adult learners returning to the instrument after years away, and those two students need very different lessons. With exam and audition candidates, I build a practice plan well in advance so preparation never feels rushed.
