Luca Brading

I’m Luca, a saxophonist and educator with over 15 years of musical experience. 

I work primarily as a professional musician and educator, with my students ranging from young beginners to advanced university graduates. I have taught at primary and secondary schools, and have also run a successful private teaching studio for the last year.

Over the last 6 years I’ve worked professionally as a bandleader of Jazz and Pop groups, and as a sideman with a number of emerging artists such as Seb Szabo, MÖZE, Alisya Rae and more. I've performed internationally in Tokyo and Paris, as well as on regional tours throughout Australia, performing at a range of different venues and festivals.

A bit about my background!

I studied at the University of Melbourne where I acquired my Bachelor of Music specialising in Jazz & Improvisation. During my time there I worked under the tuition of established jazz and session musicians including Mat Jodrell, Brett Williams and Julien Wilson.

In 2022, I was also the recipient of the Ormond Exhibitions Scholarship for the best results in my academic year. I am currently in the process of applying for my Master's degree which I intend to begin next year.

My teaching style focuses on developing individual students’ musical tastes by honing in on their preferred genres and styles, then deconstructing what makes them so great. I tailor each lesson to suit each student's ability level (especially when it comes to music theory which can be daunting!) and will always supplement lessons with pdfs, charts and other materials to help them practice the concepts we’re working on.
