About
Hi, I'm Cindy!
I teach beginner and intermediate guitar with a relaxed, patient, and encouraging approach. My goal is to help students start playing real music and enjoy their guitar without making lessons complicated or overwhelming, I have been playing guitar for approximately 50 years and teaching guitar for approximately 35 years. I bring decades of real-world playing, performing, and teaching experience to my lessons. In 2020, I moved to Chicago, IL and performed on the blues curcuit. My performance experience there included Buddy Guy's Legends, Kinston Mines, B.L.U.E.S, and Rosa's Lounge. I also had the opportunity to perform with members of KoKo Taylor's band, Earlier in my career, I performed as an opening act for Creedence Clearwater Revival during a reunion tour aroun 1996. I also performed in the River festival in Wichita Kansas four years in a row. In my lessons, I focus on practical skills such as chords, strumming, rhythm, chord changes, blues, and learning complete songs. I especially enjoy helping beginners get comfortable with the fuitar and build confidence. We'll work at your pace and focus on music you enjoy playing. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, returning to it after many years, or looking to improve the skills you already have. I'd be happy to help you move forward and enjoy making music.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and encouraging. I like to keep lessons practical and easy to understand, especially for beginners. We'll work at your pace and focus on the music you enjoy while building your skills and confidence along the way.
Curriculum
I teach through a hands-on approach using chords, strumming patterns, rhythm patterns, and songs chosen to fit each student's interests and skell level. I introduce new skills gradually and give students practical things to work on between lessons. No specific textbook is required.
