Hi! I’m Sun, a vocal coach and the owner of Bettervoice, a vocal studio in Seoul, South Korea. I specialize in helping students sing Korean songs, including K-pop, with greater confidence, comfort, and expression. I also teach English-language pop songs.

I graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA), whose alumni include Jungkook of BTS, and earned my bachelor’s degree from Hanyang University, majoring in vocal performance.

I trained at a major Korean entertainment company, gaining firsthand experience of the K-pop trainee system. Afterward, I worked as a K-pop guide vocalist, topliner, and lyricist, recording demo vocals and writing vocal melodies and lyrics.

I later spent many years coaching audition candidates at a major audition training academy in Korea, helping numerous students successfully pass auditions.

While teaching beginners, I met many students who struggled to produce their voices comfortably. I wanted to find clearer, easier ways to help them understand and use their voices. This led me to earn a Level 3 voice correction instructor certification from the Korean Vocology Association.

Today, I bring together my experience in vocal performance, songwriting, audition coaching, and voice training to help each student work toward their own goals.

My teaching style is flexible and tailored to each student. I teach everyone from complete beginners to advanced singers and music majors, adapting the pace, explanations, and exercises to your experience, goals, and preferred way of learning.

My approach to vocal training is grounded in scientific principles, but I make the explanations as simple and practical as possible. Every body and voice is different, so I adapt my guidance to your individual voice and physical responses, helping you find what works for you.

My English is basic, but luckily, we have ChatGPT on our team! I use simple English, vocal demonstrations, and step-by-step practice, with translation tools whenever we need a little extra help understanding each other.
