About
Hi, my name is Sergio; I’m from Colombia and I live in Medellín. I teach drums, congas, and batá drums, and I offer lessons in either English or Spanish.
My musical career spans over 20 years—teaching, performing live, composing, and continuing my journey of learning new things and sharing them.
Teaching Style
With over 15 years of teaching experience, I have developed an effective method for grasping a wide range of topics.
I like to provide my students with PDF study guides covering the new material.
In our lessons, we’ll work on technique, rhythms, coordination, and some music theory—just so no one can say percussionists ignore those aspects!
Regarding technique, I like to teach *Stick Control*, John Wooton’s *Rudimental Remedies*, and variations based on Benny Greb’s method.
For coordination, I use Gary Chester’s book.
And for sight-reading, the book by Podemski.
