Simone "Poca" Matteucci
About
Hi! I'm Simone Matteucci, a professional guitarist, composer, and guitar teacher from Italy, with over 30 years of teaching experience.
My musical journey began in 1989, when I received my first guitar. What started as a childhood passion gradually became my profession and a lifelong commitment to music.
Over the years, I've taught hundreds of students of different ages and skill levels, performed extensively, and worked on a wide range of musical projects, both as a solo guitarist and in collaboration with other musicians.
I hold three performance diplomas from the London College of Music: ALCM and LLCM in Electric Guitar Performance, and FLCM in Acoustic Guitar Performance.
My main specialization is acoustic fingerstyle and percussive guitar, but my musical background also includes electric guitar, pop, rock, and contemporary guitar techniques.
After more than three decades of teaching, what I enjoy most is still helping people discover what they can achieve with their instrument.
Teaching Style
I believe that learning guitar should be a personal and rewarding experience. Every student has different goals, musical tastes, strengths, and challenges, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all teaching method.
My lessons are tailored to each student's experience and interests, whether they're complete beginners, intermediate players looking to overcome technical difficulties, or advanced guitarists interested in developing their own musical identity.
I combine technical development with practical musical application, always connecting exercises to real music. Understanding why you're practicing something is just as important as knowing how to practice it.
I also encourage students to become independent musicians, developing their listening skills, musical awareness, and ability to solve problems on their own.
My approach is supportive but structured: I believe in setting realistic goals, recognizing progress, and maintaining a healthy balance between discipline and enjoyment.
Above all, I want my students to feel confident, curious, and motivated to keep playing.
Enjoy the journey!
Curriculum
My lessons are supported by a combination of technical exercises, musical repertoire, and personalized study materials selected according to each student's level and goals.
I generally recommend organizing individual practice into three complementary areas:
-
Technical development: exercises for coordination, finger independence, picking, fingerstyle, rhythm, and accuracy.
-
Assigned repertoire: songs and musical pieces selected to reinforce the techniques and concepts covered during lessons.
-
Personal repertoire: music the student genuinely enjoys, encouraging creativity, motivation, and independent exploration.
