Sara Landeau
About
Touring guitarist with Bikini Kill. The Julie Ruin on Hardly Art/SubPop Records.
Lessons are designed to help you build a meaningful, lasting connection to music, guided by a multi-instrumentalist perspective and a deep love of music (and lifelong music fanatic). Whether you’re just starting out or refining your skills, you'll develop a strong foundation through technique, theory, ear training, and repertoire, while also gaining the confidence to express yourself creatively. The goal is to make learning guitar approachable and something you genuinely look forward to every day.
Each lesson is tailored to your goals, experience, and learning style. You might work on songs you love, develop original material, learn sight reading, or strengthen your sense of rhythm and harmony. The focus is always on building skills that feel practical and relevant to your own musical path.
My students, from children to seniors, have gone on to form bands, apply to competitive music programs, teach, or simply deepen their creative practice. Whatever your path, lessons aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where you can take risks, ask questions, and learn at your own pace. With patience, encouragement, and clear guidance, you’ll be equipped to develop your abilities and have fun in the process.
Alongside private instruction, I teach college-level courses in music and history, as well as guitar certification for credit. My background spans guitar, bass, and rock drums, including percussion sight reading, and I’ve led rock bands, songwriting classes, and music technology workshops. Across all of this, my focus remains the same: helping students build strong foundations and express themselves through music.
I continue to grow as an educator through ongoing doctoral study and band collaborations, always refining my approach.
