About

Ever since I heard my first performance of The Nutcracker at age 8, I knew I had to play flute. I attended some of the finest schools, including Interlochen Arts Academy and Peabody Conservatory, and studied with some of the greatest flutists and teachers. Through everything that life has thrown at me, music has been my constant. Music helped me overcome disappointments and thoroughly enjoy triumphs. I believe that Music is a universal language and I can help you to become fluent. Whether you are a beginner, preparing for auditions or an adult amateur, and every level in between, I can help you reach your goals and enjoy playing more.

I teach private flute lessons and coach chamber music and have been doing this for 10+ years.  I teach all ages, for 10-70 and all levels, from beginner to advanced high school and college students.

Your lessons are geared to what you want to accomplish, whether you are returning to flute after many years, just beginning or are preparing for an audition. You will have performance opportunities, even if you are an online student.

I do not have a set curriculum. Fundamentals are always a focus but there are so many different styles of music and the approach is different for each piece.  You will always enjoy what you are working on and will learn to set and accomplish your goals!!

I have a Bachelor of music and a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance, in addition to many years of additional coaching from prominent flutists. I play piccolo in the International Symphony Orchestra and prepare an annual recital.

I have been teaching private lessons and coaching chamber ensembles for decades and many of my students have gone onto top music universities and conservatories. My adult students play in community bands and orchestras.

Tone, musicality, technique, intonation, breath control, articulation and confidence are just a few things you will work on in lessons. Everything else is up to you.

Method books are geared toward the student.  There are too many to list here.
