Jose M Garcia
About
I hold an Academic Diploma in Music and New Technologies from the Conservatorio di Musica “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence, Italy, completed between 2008 and 2013 with a final grade of 110/110 cum laude. My formal training included acoustics and psychoacoustics, electroacoustic composition, digital signal processing, music informatics, audio formats and protocols, practical electroacoustics, and online music and e-learning technologies.
From 2004 to 2017, I worked in Florence, Italy, with Gen Rosso, an international performing arts group, as a musician, composer-arranger, recording studio sound engineer, and international arts project coordinator. In this role, I contributed to concerts, tours, workshops, and educational programs, collaborating with schools, NGOs, festivals, ministries, and youth organizations in more than 30 countries. My work included music production, studio recording, audio editing, preparation of sound material for live shows, and coordination between artistic and technical teams.
Alongside that professional work, I led and facilitated music workshops, rehearsals, and educational activities for students and participants from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. My teaching experience has been built through international educational projects linked to live performance, collaborative creation, and social impact initiatives, with a practical approach centered on musicianship, listening, ensemble work, stage preparation, and music production for real-world use. I teach in Spanish, Italian, Portoguese and English, adapting lessons to each student’s level, goals, and context.
More recently, from 2025 to the present, I have continued working in Buenos Aires and online as a freelance sound technician, supporting live events and studio-related audio tasks such as P.A. setup, microphone placement, signal flow, dialogue cleanup, and audio editing. This current technical work also informs the practical, hands-on nature of my lessons
Teaching and project experience
From October 2006 to December 2014, I collaborated with STARKMACHER e.V. (Mannheim, Germany) in the violence-prevention projects STARK OHNE GEWALT and later STARKMACHERSCHULE. These programs worked with young people from difficult social backgrounds through the musical Streetlight, combining performing arts, social inclusion and education. The project was implemented in North Rhine-Westphalia and later across Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Hungary, with a total of 58 locations in five European countries. I was responsible for leading percussion and instrumental band workshops, creating artistic numbers with around 25 young participants per location, and preparing them for two live public performances during each project week. I also contributed to bringing the project to Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Cuba, Mexico), Philippines and China.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is practical, flexible and student-centered.
I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, goals and musical interests. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, I focus on helping you achieve real results.
Lessons are dynamic and hands-on, combining technical knowledge with creative exploration.
My teaching style is highly adaptive and student-centered. I work with sensitivity to different ages, abilities and social backgrounds, encouraging teamwork, creativity, independent participation and practical learning through performance.
Curriculum
I use a practical, step-by-step approach focused on real-world application.
Students learn by creating: producing tracks, editing audio and preparing material for live performance.
I can work with different DAWs depending on the student’s preference. I also provide guidance on workflow, sound design and performance preparation.
No specific textbooks are required — all materials are adapted to each student.
